  1. In my opinion man is good and not evil. Even at a young age of three months old babies seem to have a sense of what is good and what is wrong. We are born with knowing this and evolve and grow up following what we think is right. The babies in the video showed them choosing fair and nice individuals over unfair and anti social ones. The actions others do effect us in a certain way that only we can act on. There is no truly good and evil person I believe that people just choose what they think is right and wrong in the circumstance or situation given.

I think man is naturally born with both good and evil. I believe this, but along the way things can change based on the environment they lived or are living in. I think this because some people chose to be bad, like a murderer. And some people chose to be good, like a doctor for example. I think people chose to be good even if they are raised in a bad environment, so they can help people, not have to go though what they did. So I don't think its a trait that someone is born with, but a choice that the person makes.

  3. Man is not naturally good or evil. Humans are good or evil based on the way there parents treat them and the environment live. If a child lives in a poor community and its families poor and people around him rob stores he's gonna think its a good thing and acted the same way. On the other hand if the child lives in a good community and the family is middle class and he sees someone who needs help and someone help them he's gonna think its the right thing to do. Also the child's parents treat him/her badly he's gonna think thats the right thing to do to other people and if the child's parents treats him/her kindly then he'll think it the right thing to do

  4. I think that you are not born good or bad. I think that you are become good or bad by your surroundings, say if you grow up and everyone is bad I think you would be bad, but if you grow up in a good place with nice surroundings I like you will grow up to become good. Another reason why I think you become good are bad from your surroundings as a kid because your brain hasn’t fully develop all the way. So that is why I think you become bad or good by your surroundings and not just born with it

My opinion is that man is both naturally good and evil. As we saw in the video babies want the people that aren't like them to be hurt, but also chose the animal that was helpful. I think that the way you are raised and the environment you grow up shapes who you are. So if you are taught to be good you will have more good in you than evil, but if you are taught to be evil you will have more evil in you than good. Either way though, I believe that everybody has some evil and some good in them.

  6. I think man is no good or evil, it depends on how you are raised and your environment. History shows really great men and women but there was also really bad men. Take hitler for example, he had a bad child hood which i believe caused him to become a bad person, but hereditary wise there was no signs showing a bad line of a family member. Derek Jeter was a great man in and outside the sport. His family taught right and wrong and was told when he was doing something wrong. Look at him today a great baseball player that could have took steroids to stay in the game, could have told the yankees he wanted more money or he would leave, he could have left the yankees and been on plenty of different team but he was devoted to being a part of that one team. All of his action were shown by the way he was raised. So if you asked me if there is a good man or bad man, I would say there is no such thing. There is the environment you grow in.

  7. I think that man is naturally good or evil. People in the news today that do bad things, often have a history of doing bad things. This shows that people continue to stay how they naturally are, from a young age. I do think that different people have different levels of evil or good in them. For example, Hitler had more evil in him than someone who cheated on a test one time.

  8. I think that man is not naturally evil; babies don't have the intention of being evil. Once you get a little older around 7 - 8 you may become selfish as you realize you want more than somebody else, but as a child grows older around 9 + and learns thats not the correct thing to do and is frowned upon they become more generous and not wanting more. By children's surrounds they become what they're around. If in a bad environment they tend to be bad but can also be good as they are tough enough to stand the temptations of wanting revenge etc.

  9. I believe that man is born good and evil. I think that when a human is born, they are naturally kind and generous to others and are selfless, but are also selfish and unfriendly. I think that later in life, the environment of where the child grows up determines which traits of the child become more dominant. Say a child who grows up in a house were the parents are always fighting and yelling and saying harsh things, that child will become more self indulgent, hostile to others, and keep to themselves. However, a child who grows up in a household where their parents are loving and care for them, will grow up to be more selfless, outgoing, and kind to others.

I think man is naturally good or evil. The studies in the video showed that babies who are very young can interpret good from evil. This is not because they are taught that way, they are naturally born to know the difference. As you age, you just know the difference. If your parents teach you to be good, you will be good. But if they teach you to be evil, you will be evil. Many people in the world who are evil are most likely not taught that, but it is just the way they naturally act. The same thing goes for being good. If you are good, you are most likely naturally nice and good. The babies who chose the animal that every other baby chose did not chose that because they were taught it, but they chose the same animals because they naturally know the difference.

I think that when you are born you are good and bad. When we saw the baby lab, we saw the babies chose what was good, what was close to them in similarities, but when it comes to other people they would rather get less amount, just so the other person could get a lot less or none at all, so I think that they are good when it comes to themselves, but when it comes to other people they are evil. Also i think that when you grow up you are getting taught on how to treat other people when you get older so you are pushing away the evil and being nicer to other people.

  12. I think that man is good, but not evil because it was proved in a baby lab by using experiments that babies naturally go for what is right. For example when the babies watched the puppet show and saw that one dog helped the other puppet open the box, and the other puppet slam the box shut. At the end of that experiment they let the baby decide which puppet they like best, and most of them went for the puppet who helped open the box. Another example would be is when they did the experiment with the coins. As the kids that they tested got older you noticed they went from wanting the most coins between the two, to wanting the same amount, to wanting the least amount and giving the bigger amount to the other person. By doing these experiments, it proves that no one is born evil, that people are naturally good, and that they are influenced by their surroundings.

  13. I think that human beings are naturally good or evil. Since we are born, we know from right or wrong. Some choose to be mean to someone because they’re not like them. You have something against different people and you want the worse for them. For example, in the video the baby wants the animal that likes graham crackers to be punished because he doesn’t like cheerios. If you have in good in yourself and you do something evil, you feel guilty and you try to take it back, but if you’re naturally evil you have no regrets nor feelings towards your actions. As we get older we learn to be nice, but if you’re naturally evil you know whats evil and you still choose to be evil. For example, murderers keep killing people, they know its wrong because they run away from the police, but they’re naturally evil and can’t stop causing harm. Someone who volunteers is a good person because they’re not forced to help but good will comes out of their hearts.

I believe that man has both naturally good impulses as well as naturally evil impulses. In the video we saw that the babies chose the puppet that was helpful opposed to the puppet that was mean. However, we also saw that babies wanted the puppet that is unlike them to be punished. We also saw that as a younger child, we want more to ourselves. This was shown when the children were asked to give another less than they received or to give an equal amount. In conclusion, everybody is born with some good and some evil inside of them.

I think that man is born with a clean slate, that when someone is born they are not naturally good or evil. They become who they are based on how they were raised and past events in their life. If someone for example grows up surrounded by good morals and a good childhood they are more likely to turn out to be good. But if someone grows up with a bad childhood and surrounded by bad people then they are more likely to turn out as more of an evil person, because that's all they've really known and learned. I don't think it's as likely for someone who is raised in a bad environment learning only to do bad things to become good. It's more likely that a good person is raised in a good community and environment.

  16. Lauren Dietrich- I think that everyone is born with natural instincts to make decisions between right and wrong. However, i do not think that a person is born naturally good or evil. a persons mind works in a way where depending on the situation, they use their instincts to choose good or evil. For example, when the babies being tested had to chose between a puppet who acted positive and one who acted negative, most of the babies chose the positive acting puppet. On the other hand, when the babies had to chose between a puppet that agreed with their snack choice and one who didn't, most of them chose the one that agreed; even though that puppet acted negative.

  17. I think that man is not naturally good or evil. There is no such thing as a evil baby and it is based on where you grow up i think. Most kids follow what their parents have done or do and if they constantly get into trouble then you might get into trouble to. If you are in a rich family and they are both graduated from collage then you will most likely become a non troubled man. No baby can be bad naturally- NOLAN QUINLAN

  18. I do not think man is naturally good or evil. I think that man is taught by their parental guardians and their peers if they are either good or evil. Although, if a baby is born with a disability that makes them insane when they are older, that is an exception to what I am talking about because they are insane. If a baby grows up in an environment where their parents do bad things like steal, that is setting a bad example for the baby and the baby might grow up to be corrupt like this. If a baby is raised right and their parents teach him or her the right way to do things and how not to do the bad thing, that baby will end up good. Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man and learned to be this way from his experiences. Joseph Stalin was subjected to an evil surrounding and became the way he is now. Overall, I think babies learn to become good or evil

  19. i think man is born with a fresh start and is neither good or evil. in the video, babies commonly chose the moral decisions. i think good and evil depends on the way you are brought up. if you are raised in a household surrounded by negativity and hatred, it is common you will grow up and be the same, but if you are raised correctly with good and moral behavior there is a great chance you will grow up and be that way too. when someone is good or evil they tend to be know for being that way for awhile. being good or evil is a choice you make that is also influenced by society, your environment and your family and friends. many of todays athletes are both good and bad. many donate to charity or visit children's hospitals while others won't even care and shutout people

I think that man are naturally good and evil, for instance when shown in the 60 minute video. Babies choose the puppet that helped the other puppet out. This is because since the beginning we have good morals and just acts on impulse, however some also still choose the bad puppet. this is because, each of us are different but most of are born with good morals. Man are always going to be good and evil, because we always act on impulse, even though sometimes we know it's bad.

I believe man is born evil. As the children got older, they became more fair. When humans are younger, they like others who are like them and tend to be selfish, wanting more. In the puppet example from the Baby Lab, the babies chose the puppet that liked the same food that they enjoyed. In the coin example, the younger you were the more coins you wanted for yourself and the less you wanted for someone else. As the children got older they chose the more fair choose, resulting in the same amount of coins for each child. Sometimes, the older children gave more the other person and received less for themselves.

  23. I think that you are not necessarily born good of evil or are taught it. I think that you learn it by your surroundings. The people you are around or not around, friends, family. Being good or evil is a choice. In Lord of the Flies, Jack wants to kill the pig, but can’t because he doesn’t have it in him. He wanted to kill it because the boys need food, but he learned that killing is wrong. He is in a situation where you have to get food one way or another and killing the pig would maybe have been a good thing, but he would feel guilty or upset afterwards because he didn’t know what was right and wrong in that moment.

  24. My opinion is that man is not naturally good or evil, however we are all innocent at birth, and our environment has great influence on the things we do and say. The study in the video found that most of the time the babies preferred the "good" animals over the unpleasant ones. Contrarily, there was one instance where the babies encouraged the punishment of the animals who were narrowly different than them. This does not mean that humans are naturally evil, rather we have a natural inclination to favor those who are similar to us, as we can relate to them. I believe that we all have a very rudimentary sense of morality, and that the surroundings and conditions in which we are raised in either build upon that or alter it.

  25. I think people are naturally born evil.I believe as humans grow and mature they learn to be good by the life around them.Parents, teachers, and coaches all guide young children to be good. Over time humans learn to live by morals. In the baby lab researchers showed how the babies liked puppets who were similar to themselves. When the babies were showed the puppet with unlike characteristics getting hurt they responded positively. In another experiment 8,9 and10yr olds had the option of sharing the same amount of tokens with a partner, or receiving less tokens but not sharing with their partner. Astonishingly the 10yr olds choes to share the same amount with their partner, while the 8yr olds did not share at all. All of this evidence shows that babes are born evil and over time people learn morals and become good. - Shannon Hewlett

  26. James Podlaski- I think that humans are both good and bad. In the bible it is said that man is born with sin. I think that a majority of humans try to make decisions that in some way will benefit them. However, there are many humans who devote their life to helping other people or causes. Humans have the power to do good things and very bad things. It is up to them to decide which path or choice to take.

  27. From watching the video, I learned that human infants begin life with some form of a moral compass. Studies show that creatures prefer good people when given little information about them, think that bad people should be punished, and that people who aren’t like them should be mistreated. As these creatures grow, they are initially selfish and are even willing to lose part of their earnings just so the other person won’t get as much reward as them. Over time, however, the creatures begin to share the profit and even give out more to others; they learn to be more generous.

  28. I think that you cannot be born good or evil, that it is the environment you grow up in. Studies show that babies chose the stuffed animal that is most like them. The babies also chose the stuffed animal that punished the other stuffed animal that wasn't like them. They choose the stuffed animal that helped the animal struggling. Another study shows that (around) five or six year olds chose what will benefit them, but that won't benefit the other person. The kids chose more tokens for themselves and no tokens for the other kid. The older kids, around 8 years old, chose equal amount of tokens for themselves and the other kid. As the kids grow up, they mature and tend to be more generous. As I said before, if the child is good or evil, depends on the environment you grow up in.

  29. I believe that man is naturally good. If someone is young and they look at others actions, the younger person might use those actions. For example if you see someone hurt with no help your not gonna just leave them there to suffer, your most likely gonna help the person. But if you are born naturally evil then you are most likely not gonna help the person that is hurting. One actual event that happened was the Boston Marathon Bombing. One man was seriously injured and lost his leg and a random person called for help and got medical attention. They didn't even know each other.

  30. Man is not naturally good or evil but influenced by the people around them. In one of the tests the baby chose the stuffed animal that shut the box on the other because the stuffed animal trying to open it was mean before. So when babies are born they have a very primitive sense of right and wrong but they will not always choose what is seen as good today. Also studies have shown that the older people get the more generous they are. When they put many different age groups to the test the older the kids were the more giving they were with tokens. As an example an older child might choose to take 20 tokens and also give 20 tokens, while a kid who is younger will most likely chose to take 15 and give 5. Even though they took less they got more than the other person. So you are mainly shaped by the environment you grow up in rather than being born good or evil.
